This is Recovery: Celebrating the 4th!

Inviting Herren Wellness alumni, families, and guests to Jacob Hill on July 4th weekend is always a highlight of our year. It is a day filled with laughter, family, connection, and community.

“We create this beautiful day with lots of fun things for children and families because we want them to experience recovery in the way it should be. My favorite part is the kids walk away with this idea in their mind that is comforting so all of a sudden where mom and dad are isn’t scary and they can’t wait to come back.” – Lori McCarthy, Executive Director

“I feel like this is always a special day because it brings families and it bring hope together in this incredible space. What we see today is what has evolved to a beautiful day of celebration. When we started Herren Wellness, we always wanted a sanctuary for families as well as for the guests to feel not only at home, but at peace and not be afraid of the process and also be incredibly proud of recovery and to celebrate it because it should be celebrated. ” – Heather Herren, Founder

“I didn’t realize how incredibly special this day was until a couple of years ago when I allowed myself to feel what the guests were feeling. For some of our guests, this is the first sober holiday they will share with their family. Family is everything.

We celebrate together. Not only 4th of July, but more importantly recovery. Recovery has given us the opportunity to celebrate days like this and share it together.

We have built this so families do not miss out and its amazing to watch them come on this property and share this day together.

What hits me most is the children. That they get to come here and celebrate with their mom, their dad, brother, or sister. It is such a big part of this that families come on this campus on a day like today and see smiles, see people happy. As simple as that sounds that is a huge thing in this process.”
